Week 2 - Merry Christmas from the MTC

Merry Christmas!!!

Everyone is in high Christmas spirits and it is amazing. Everything has been fantastic at the MTC and I am so thankful I took the time to really prepare myself. It has really paid off. Christmas has been a great testimony builder, it has really reinforced why we celebrate Christmas. I am reminded constantly of the sacrifice that Jesus made for me, along with the importance of his birth. I still remember how special Christmas is and all of the magical Christmas mornings we had at the house. This Christmas will be different, but I will never forget the special feeling of being with our family on Christmas.
Today we had Elder Bednar give the Christmas devotional.  Instead of just talking, he passed out 200 cell phones for the missionaries to share, and we used them to text his I-Pad.  Elder Bednar and his wife would answer the questions we asked.  It was really great to see how technology is affecting the sharing of the gospel.  He answered so many questions that I had, and he said them in such a knowledgeable way.  It was fantastic!!
After the meeting my companions were waiting outside and Elder Bednar came by.  We got to shake his hand!!  When I shook his hand, I was so filled with the spirit.  I wished him a Merry Christmas and he wished me a Merry Christmas as well!  I looked into his eyes and only felt a Christlike love, like he genuinely cared for me.  I know that he is an apostle of the Lord because he is beaming with the Light of Christ.

Hope y'alls Christmas was good.

Love,

Week 1 - MTC

Hello!!

I am doing fantastic in the MTC!! I have two awesome companions!! Elder Gearheart, he is from Draper Utah, and Elder Rodreguez he is from Appache Arizona!! They are both really funny and help me relax!! But they both know how to work hard and keep the spirit!! The food here is fantastic, I am very well fed! I have and awesome Branch President who loves to exemplify obedience! In our district we are becoming like brothers and sisters. I am studying as hard as I can every day, so that I can be an effective tool in Heavenly Fathers hands. The Spirit is so strong here in the MTC, I can feel it almost everywhere I go, and I can't seem to stop smiling at times. I am so glad that I took the time to really prepare myself in so many ways before my mission. That work has really paid off and I know how to work hard.  I have two fantastic teachers!! Brother Hixson and Brother Ikahihifo. They are so powerful in the ways that they teach and have the spirit with them constantly.

I am so thankful that I chose to serve a mission, because I am loving every second of it, and I am loving the hard work!! My P- days are normally on Wednesdays, but they made an exception for Christmas. I love you guys a ton, and I hope you're doing well.

Love,

Elder Hinrichs
